Keep going

On Thursday, an opportunity to move to and work in Switzerland
was truncated.

I had really tried not to get my hopes too high
but as we all know, mind and heart don't always listen to each other
so by the end of the two month interview process,
I had my heart set on the possibility of moving back to Europe
and starting a new chapter.

As victim of our "live strong, be strong" generation
I didn't allow myself to feel broken by the sudden crash of
dreams and illusions that I had built over the last two months.

Instead, I wiped my tears away and kept going with my life
telling myself what we all say to ourselves in situations like this:
"It wasn't supposed to be. better things are on your way, Sil"

On Friday, I woke up embraced by a sudden sadness that I couldn't fight off.
On Saturday, the sadness turned into bitterness.
On Sunday, I decided to
take the Metro North and head to those oasis
that over the years I've learned to turn to in moments like this.

Today my oasis was Dia: Beacon.

Pictures were not allowed, so I couldn't capture the moment
to share it here with you.

It was quite magical.

Thunderstorm included.

I leave you with one of the
pieces and artists that most caught my interest:

by
Sol LeWitt

I think that I am ready to keep going and start the week.

Have a good one,

Sil

Adjusting

Four days into my Manhattan life
and I still feel calm and at peace....
astonishing
and quite an accomplishment.

We'll see how it goes tomorrow
once I hit the office
and face, once again, the cruel reality of living in a box 10-6.

This was a relaxing, cozy and airy
(not sure if the last word can be used in this context but that's how it felt)
 4 day weekend
mostly spent on my own.
Well, with the unconditional company of Pia.

For once, I allowed myself to take it easy,
do the basic housework
and enjoy "living on my couch."

Jeez, it felt gooood.

The immediate outcome,
I walked to the Farmers Market
at the worst time of the day
just when the sun hits the strongest,
and in my own pool of sweat
and discomfort
I was smiling at the people passing by.

Definitely seeing the world through rose colored glasses nowadays.

Have a good start of the week.

Champions

And...I am back!
And must say that it felt too short
and too good to be true.

It was an amazing short week
of friends, family, and celebrations
including
the 3rd consecutive Grand Triumph
of LA ROJA.

I was there to record a glorious moment
(turn audio on)

Summer Solstice

This entry comes a bit late
but on Wednesday I was dealing with some technical issues
and it's not until today that I can finally make the post.

On Wednesday June 20, 2012 was Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year
and the 1st day of summer.

One of my favorites.

I left work early enough to grab Pia
and head to the banks of the Hudson River
to see the sunset.

It was SPECTACULAR.

It was tranquil,
there was a breeze (even though we reached high record temperatures last week)
and the ray of colors was a treat for the eye.

I recorded the last 3 minutes of the sunset
as a reminder of those gifts that nature gives us and often we take for granted
and for you, in case you didn't have a chance to see it.

Happy Week!

(the splendor was such that
in the video it seems as if the sun was still out
but it was not...)

Last few weeks...

I am back to my
wondering and feeling restless.

I am enormously grateful for everything I have
and for the leisure of having 4 months of relatively
calmness and stability.

However, I am again not sleeping
and am fiercely trying to figure out what is next -
which I believe it will be a significant move/change in my life.

Due to this state of mind
I don't feel too inspired for the blog.

That said,
NYC is showering us with a wonderful weather
and I have had great moments
with friends, Pia and my camera

I even changed my look!
