Another piece of my life

As you probably figured out by reading my posts
life has been particularly complicated
and at times
quite hard to deal with since Sept 1st

Today, I want to share
another piece of my life
where long hours and effort have been invested

This promotional note
goes out tonight

I must admit that
it brings out certain pride
and the smile
that Juncal has been asking for

The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience and the European Commission’s Directorate General for Communication are pleased to announce that European Sites of Conscience and other participating organizations will gather for

Promoting Cultures of Tolerance and Democratic Values

ON: November 3-5, 2011
AT: The European Commission's
Directorate General for Communication
Brussels, Belgium

From November 3 to 5, close to twenty-five Sites of Conscience from across Europe ranging from Terezín Memorial (Czech Republic) to the Youth Initiative for Human Rights to Le Bois du Cazier in Belgium will come together. Their goal? To shape new understanding of a changing Europe, by tapping the rich histories of the continent.

At the opening session on Thursday, November 3, 9:30a.m. -12 noon, keynote speaker, Doudou Diène, Chair of the Board of Trustees, International Coalition of Sites of Conscience and former United Nations Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Racism, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (2002-2008), as well as representatives of Sites of Conscience and various European agencies will discuss the role of history in "Promoting Cultures of Tolerance and Democratic Values" today.

Organized by the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience and hosted by the European Commission's Directorate General for Communication, this gathering will result in Sites of Conscience across Europe developing new collaborative strategies and activities that aim to bring the voices of their 2.5 million annual visitors into the debates about discrimination, exclusion and xenophobia evolving throughout Europe today. More, including the full list of participants, here.
