Say It (Part 2)

I am not necessarily a fan of notes, quotes and written stuff by others
BUT in the last couple of days I have come across, been forwarded
and confided with messages, sentences and lists
that have made me "hmm" (not sure if that expression exists),
relate (to a certain extent),
and archive them.

Here a few more:

And a last one
Don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings...
just found it funny (and sort of hoping not fully true)

I really hope that these "Say It" posts don't become a trend...
I realize that they can be unbearable and cheesy like hell

Say It

Make sure to keep in mind resolution #4

I also wanted to include "La Vie en Rose" in today's post
I've been listening to it over the last couple of days
Amazed at how much a song can say

Feliz día de los Reyes Magos

Today is the most magical day of the year in Spain
el día de los Reyes Magos
(the Epiphany or the Three Magic Kings in the anglo world).

Quite an event in my house
since we were little…

The respect is such that
I was remembered by our Majesties in the distance
and received this sweet virtual present
this morning.

Thank you

Have a "one of a kind" type of day.

Is this what we call equality?

Today was characterized by
the extraordinary large number of gender references that I came across,
so I feel pretty much obliged
to dedicate this post to the topic.

I woke up to the news that
Saudi women will not need a male guardian
to run or vote in the municipal elections in 2015.

While I first took the news as positive,
I was soon after shocked by the fact that this was in fact news
and became even more shocked
when I was reminded that
contemporary Saudi women cannot travel, work, study abroad, marry, get divorced or gain admittance to a public hospital without  permission from a male guardian.

While I was still digesting this,
I ironically stumbled upon an article in The Washington Times
reporting on Obama's new "national action plan"
aimed at giving women a bigger role in resolving conflicts around the world
cause as the President states
"women can make the world more peaceful."

Yet, we women still feel the need to
build educational institutions dedicated to
illuminating the role of women in transforming society
and our contributions to the social, cultural, economic and political life.

Coincidentally I was then forwarded a video
in which Daniel Craig
undergoes a makeover as he puts himself in a woman's shoes
as part of a gender campaign initiated by Annie Lennox.

These were just a few of the references received in one day

So I ask, how can we still argue that we are equal?

When are news about men having the right to vote news?

When does a president need to launch an action plan to give a bigger role to men?

Why does in 2012 Daniel Craig need to put himself in a woman's shoes ?

A New Year!

Hello,
I just wanted to drop in and wish you a happy New Year.
Juncal often says that 2011 was the platform that will help us take off...
 I sense it that way.

Looking forward to continuing to use thisthatyotrascosasmas as my little experiment
and to share it with you.

Wishing you a powerful 2012

 Sil
